Nestled on the gentle slopes along the Rhône River, directly opposite the celebrated vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, lies the Lirac appellation. It’s here that the story of Château de Montfaucon unfolds, its roots reaching back to the 11th century when its inaugural tower stood as a vital sentinel. The castle’s historical significance was paramount, positioned on the frontier between the French Kingdom and the Holy Roman German Empire, a testament to its strategic role among the numerous fortresses guarding the Rhône.
In 1995, Rodolphe de Pins inherited the Montfaucon estate. Having refined his craft at esteemed wineries like Henschke in Barossa and Vieux Telegraphe in Châteauneuf du Pape, he brought a wealth of knowledge back to Lirac, embarking on a journey to revitalize the winery and adopt sustainable farming. His profound understanding of the indigenous varieties shines through in every bottle.
Join us for a very special Happy Hour tasting of the wines of Château de Montfaucon on June 4th from 4-7 PM. Light refreshments will be served. We cannot wait to share these special bottles with you!
